One day during the week we decided to head out to Girdwood's Alyeska resort to try out the Winner Creek Gorge hike. It was a nice easy hike with a path and reward of beautiful views along the way and at the mid point a gorge that you can cross via hand tram!
Taking a break!
Not only is my face scary, but look at my boots, socks and hiking pants-made-shorts....this is ALASKA!!! Not cute, but very functional and comfortable!
Gigantic trees!!!
Isn't my dad the cutest?
We made it to the gorge and my mom took one look at hand tram and put the kabosh on it immediately. Of course, my dad was ready to go across. I was tentative for a minute, but once my dad was going, my decision was made.
Can you see the people having to pull the rope (ala tug of war) to get across?
Views from the middle of the gorge
Glacial fed water
Going across, so happy!
Rest assured, we made it there and back safely :). Now, we're headed back to the trailhead.
My cute mom's Alaska pose! Tank top and all, it got warmer as the day went on!
CM the engineer checking out the construction of the bridge.
Photo op!
Reminded me of the mushrooms from Willie Wanka and the Chocolate Factory!
I'm in Alaska!!!
August and still some snow left over from the record breaking year
CM taking his time, enjoying the sites
Yes, that's more snow to the left, too
Back at the hotel
Lovely garden and sunshine!
Great day for a hike!
