First weeks in TX

While we waited for our mortgage to be processed, we needed to take care of the usual things such as looking for furniture, searching for a car, insurance, etc.  Since we'd lived in furnished places for the past 3+ years, we didn't have anything in the way of furniture...not even a bed.  So, we spent a lot of weekends searching/purchasing all of these items each weekend.  We were also trying to meet friends, find a job (for me) and get to know Houston a bit. 

Easter came up before we knew it so we decided to go all out with dying the eggs, having an Easter basket and a big Sunday dinner....awesome!

Lucky for us, we have some Doha friends that had recently been moved back to Houston.  We are so thankful for their friendship and support while repatriating.  Both Jackie and Donna invited us over our first weekends in Houston, fed us some yummy food, showed us their gorgeous new homes and made us feel so welcome in our new city.  

Donna's birthday fell on the 30 of April so we even got to celebrate with her at Papasitos-yummy tex-mex.

The next morning we drove half way to Austin to meet Danny and Meg to get some of Eric's things and his car that Danny was taking care of while we were overseas.  

On the way to Austin we got to stop at Buc-ees!  We didn't understand the hype until we went in.  It's definitely not your typical rest-stop.  They have so many products, very Texas-like.  And, seriously, they have the absolute cleanest bathrooms we've ever seen.

We've also noticed a lot of "Texas Edition" trucks...so here's one to prove it.  Someone told us that you had to prove you live in Texas to get one, but we're not convinced.  They are serious trucks!
