About two weeks ago, it was one of our first weekends here, we decided to go down to the Corniche which is essentially a "boardwalk" of sorts that is cresent shaped waterfront. It was a Friday morning which is the start of our weekend in Doha...work week is Sunday - Thursday as Friday is the Muslim Holy Day...and typically the roads are less crowded and generally there's just less people which is nice because Doha can be crowded. We did not realize that the weather was so windy....

Right before our big rain storm. Doha gets about 70mm of rain per year...we got approx 40mm this day...You can see from the photo that it looked really eerie before the storm....but it was only about 3 or 4 in the afternoon. Normally at this time in the afternoon, it's bright and sunny.

All of the kids in our neighborhood had a blast playing in the streets afterwards, they were running around in all of the puddles and splashing eachother constantly.
This is a photo of the street a week ago. It was a Friday-their Holy day, and very few people were on the streets. It was a really eerie day. It looked almost like it was snowing out because of all of the dust.
The rain made some serious puddles...the rain has no where to go.
