Trip to Cairo/Giza: Day 1

So right after our fantastic night out for NYE, we woke up the next morning bright and early for our flight to Cairo, Egypt.  We really wanted to go someplace in the region to show my parents and figured the pyramids would be a perfect destination.

Egypt is an hour behind us so we left Doha around 9am and got to Cairo around 11:30.  It was an easy flight and we were picked up from the airport by our tour coordinator, Mohammed.  From there we went to the famous Egyptian Museum where we were unable to bring a camera in, unfortunately.  Wow, what an overwhelming place.  There was so much history and artifacts, it was virtually impossible to see it all. Luckily, our trusty guide, Michaiel brought us to the "important-must-see" sights.

From there we drove through Cairo to Giza to our hotel which was a 10 minute walk from the pyramids.  We could actually see the pyramids from our hotel which was quite the sight.  I don't think we were prepared to how overwhelming the pyramids would be in person.

That evening we had arranged a Nile Dinner Cruise in Cairo.  It was a 2 hour cruise at night on the Nile River with a delicious buffet.

A photo before we left

A Spinning Dervish!
We've seen many of these in Doha, but this gentleman, was by far, the most colorful.  Half way through his show, his costume lit up, literally.
Yup, that's him

We look exhausted, and we were!

Stay tuned for Day 2
