A visit to see Pop

While home, one of the main items on our itinerary was to visit Eric's sweet grandparents who live about an hour from our parents.  Eric's grandfather "Pop" has been suffering from Alzheimer's Disease and about 3 years ago moved into a home specifically for Alzheimer patients.  He is as happy as can be and always excited to see us.  His grandmother is about 5 minutes away and visits often.  It's so sweet to see them together.  He always knows Marie "Mania" whenever she comes in.

We're dressed similarly
Pop's telling me something interesting
Go Yanks!!!

Such a cutie!

We went out for a walk waiting for Grandma and Patti to arrive.
Love this!!

Patti and Pop

We were craving some NY pizza, so Patti took us to the most delicious Pepe's Pizza...actually it came from New Haven originally and the owner swore he'd never be anywhere but CT.  However, with the economy the way it is, real estate was cheap so he opened a shop in Yonkers, and boy, are we glad he did!  Rumor has it that he ships the water in from New Haven, dedication!!
Grandma, Pop and Eric
Oh my gosh, I cannot even tell you how delicious this pizza tasted...we were in heaven!
Love this!

We loved being able to spend time with Patti, Pop and Grandma.  The countdown to Thanksgiving begins now!

On October 22, we are walking in Honor of Eric's Grandfather in the Alzheimer's Walk.  Please contact me if you would like to donate :)

Sara and Aria come for a swim

My dear friend, Sara from grad school gave birth to her first baby last year, Aria.  They live in the Financial District so when they said they would come up on the train to my parent's house for the day, I was thrilled!  Not only did I get to see them at our party, but this day too.   I picked them up at the train station in my mom's convertible and Aria loved it.

Swim time!

One of the hottest mommas out there...Sara and Aria

Aria really wanted some bread :)
 My mom loved her!!!

Sadly, Aria and Sara had a full schedule that day, they were off to Jersey City for a night BBQ-boy, this one year old has quite the schedule :)

That night we went out for some yummy Tex-Mex with the Marras Pickett clan.
Delish!

August 1, 2011

Eric and I haven't been home for our birthdays in what seemed like years so waking up to a delicious french toast breakfast compliments of my mom,  and flowers and balloons from my dad- such a wonderful treat!  Thank you, Mom & Dad!!!

My mom's birthday was the 21st of July and Eric's is the 5th of August so we were celebrating their birthdays as well!

My parents had a lot of work going on at the house while we were home so my dad had men outside working and, of course, they requested my dad's delicious sandwiches.   He's rocking out his BBQ shirt and cut offs while whipping up some of his signature grub.

Love these dogs, Combo and Aldo!!!!!
"Boxing"

That night we had a little celebration at my parent's house.
My brothers came up from the city for the occasion with Alex, plus Kathy and Mom and Dad P, Lex, Becks & Mel...it was so nice to have so many people in one place.  Thank you everyone!!

Eric's cake for me and my mom...Lexy said he doesn't get points for the penmanship, but double points for the taste, and I agree :)

We didn't totally appreciate the "Over the Hill-Too Old to Count" candle...thanks Er!!!

Gift and present time!  Alex, JC and Jedd got us the most hilarious cards!

Eric will tell me this is a "typical Jennie" face...and I guess I can't disagree..

It was wonderful to be able to be home and celebrating birthdays with everyone.  Made for a memorable 30th on my part.   If my next 30 years are as great as the first 30...well, there'll be no complaining from me...thanks for celebrating with us!!
