The days leading up to July 10, 2010 :) (The Arrival of European family and friends)

 We were lucky enough to have some of our family and friends from Europe come in town for our wedding.   My uncle and aunt came in town from Kempten, Germany, my dad's best friend came in town from Sardegna, Italy and our former exchange student came in town from Zurich, Switzerland.  Once Eric arrived, we knew the extravaganza had begun..and it did!  Shortly after my Uncle Franco and Aunt Evie arrived from Germany....then Luca and Greta and then Carlo and Giuseppina...it was a whirlwind time but so much fun!  We feel so fortunate they were all able to be with us on our special day.

Eric and Mania's Trip to see the Yankees - July 2, 2010

Eric went to the last game played at the old Yankee stadium back in September of 2008.   Since the construction of the new stadium, Eric had been wanting to go to a game but it with the limited times we were home in 2009, it just wasn't possible.  So, this year he checked the schedule and the only game that he would be able to attend was the one on the 2nd of July.  The rest of the games were away.  So, we bought 2 tickets with great seats and Eric decided he wanted to take his Grandmother "Mania" to the game.  She hadn't been to a game in ages and to go with her grandson to the new stadium was a huge treat!  So, since Eric only arrived one day before the game, Eric's parents said they would drive them down and hang in the Bronx until the game was over.  Since parking is more than a pain in that area, Eric's dad decided to ask a fellow officer if there was any parking for fellow officers....he said sure and Mike and Barbara got parking right next to the stadium!  They thought they'd hit the jackpot but really did when they asked for one of their friends at the front gate(who happens to be in charge of corporate sales at the stadium)...he came down and gave them tickets to amazing seats right behind home plate!!!  It was a wonderful day for 3 generations of Picketts :)

We all went over to Eric's parent's house to greet Eric upon his return.  We had a delicious BBQ...just what the doctor ordered for Eric who was definitely craving some food from the US of A :)

Miss Dinerstein!

Miss Dinerstein happens to be my mom's third grade teacher from Fishkill Elementary.  Last year, my mom found "Miss Dinerstein"...somehow through the wonders of the internet and called her up.  Now, she's Mitzi Pinsly and lives in Arizona with her husband of 50 years.  My mom was able to meet up with Miss Dinerstein after not seeing each other since my mom was in 3rd grade!  They met first in NJ when Mitzi was in town for a family function.  They now keep in touch and get together when they're in the same area.  My parents were invited to Mitzi and Arnie's 50th Anniversary Party in June of this year.  It was just family, a few other couples and my parents.  My mom was so touched by the invite that we decided to go down to Fishkill Elementary School to take some photos to share with the golden couple.   My mom put them together in a beautiful frame along with a copy of her report card from third grade.  It was a wonderful weekend for my parents to share with Mitzi, Arnie and their children.

 David and Sheila invited my parents and brothers down to Rockland for their annual Father's Day BBQ.  My brother's had never met Eric's extended family so we were happy to meet "midway" from the city to all be together for Father's Day 2010--the missing link, again, was Eric.  At this point, we were all soooo ready for him to be home!

Kathy and Eric's Wedding: June 19, 2010

Eric and Kathy Siegrist's wedding fell on a beautiful Saturday in June.  The weather was perfect for their outdoor ceremony.  Unfortunately, my Eric (as Kathy and I call them) missed the event by just a 

week or so.

Casey's Graduation Party: June 6, 2010

 The nice part about being home was being able to see so many people.  One of Eric's cousin's, Casey, recently graduated from college and I was able to see many members of Mom Pickett's family down in Rockland.   Linnea and Freddie (Casey and Lindsay's mother and Father) were wonderful hosts at a delicious Italian restaurant in New City.  We had the entire back room to ourselves.  It was wonderful to see everyone and spend some time before the hustle and bustle of our upcoming wedding.
